Contrary to popular belief, drive-in movie theaters aren’t just a thing of the past. In fact, Idaho is home to many of them! You just have to know where to find them. Many of them are hiding out in far-off rural areas, but visiting them is so worth the effort. After all, nothing beats an evening spent enjoying a movie under the stars. Treat yourself to a truly retro experience when you visit the best drive-in theater in all of Idaho. Tucked away near a small agricultural town, you’ll quickly realize why this place has endured for all of these years.
Parma is a tiny town of just 1,900 residents in southern Idaho's Canyon County. It's here you'll find one of the most charming and best drive-in theaters in the state: the Parma Motor-Vu Drive-In.
This quaint drive-in theater is truly a blast from the past. It almost looks like nothing has changed at all over the years this place has been in business. Originally opened in 1953, the Parma Motor-Vu was one of the first drive-in movie theaters in the state.
In a world where drive-in theaters like this one are becoming increasingly harder to come by, visiting the Motor-Vu feels like a real treat. That's not to say this drive-in hasn't seen its fair share of difficulties. It has, but it's overcome each and every one of them.
The Parma Motor-Vu has had to keep up with each and every change in technology over the years, but they've always held on to what they value most—a family atmosphere. Owned and operated by the same family since it opened, this place is the real deal.
Today, the Motor-Vu offers up the same experiences it's always offered. Their famous popcorn is even popped with the original machine from 1953! Grab your favorite box of classic candy, a soda, and enjoy the show. This is what nights out at the drive-in is all about.
They show first-run movies Wednesday through Sunday throughout the summer months. Admission costs just $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $3 for children. Gates typically open at 9:00 pm on movie nights.
The next time you feel like watching a movie under the stars, be sure to make your way to the Parma Motor-Vu Drive-In. This retro theater will fill you with nostalgia and give you some unforgettable family memories! Check out their current movies by clicking here .
