Located about 45 miles south of Burley is a wonderland of awe-inspiring geologic formations and wide-open scenery. Castle Rocks State Park attracts outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world for its prime rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking opportunities, but that’s not all this park has to offer. Few people know that this awesome park is home to a 3-D Archery Course, and it’s perfect for beginners and professionals alike! Try your hand at this unique activity and check it out:
Let's be honest, who doesn't want to pick up a bow and arrow every once in a while? Archery is downright awesome and you can try it for yourself at Castle Rocks State Park.
Boasting a dramatic landscape of geological formations that date back 2.5 million years, Castle Rocks is an amazing place to explore when you're craving adventure. From hiking to climbing, recreation is abundant at this breathtaking state park.
The 3-D Archery Course is a relatively new addition to Castle Rocks. It was unveiled in 2015 and it's been one of the park's best-kept secrets ever since. No matter what your experience or skill level may be, everybody is welcome to try their hand at this one-of-a-kind sport!
The course consists of more than 20 targets across a half-mile loop trail. These targets look surprisingly realistic but don't worry, these life-sized creatures are made completely of foam.
The targets are of animals both large and small. Larger creatures like moose and elk are positioned up to 60 yards away, while smaller animals like jackalope are set up at a shorter range. They've also been marked with "kill zones" for the ultimate test of accuracy.
The course costs $3/per day to enter on top of the $5 state park fee to enter Castle Rocks, but it's so worth it for the memories you'll create. After all, it's not often you get to test your archery skills in a jaw-dropping setting like this. The course is open every day to the public, and groups and organizations are welcome to reserve the course by calling the park.
Move over, Robin Hood! Spend some time training at Castle Rocks' unique Archery Course and you'll be a professional in no time. Learn more about the park and the activities it has to offer at the Idaho Parks & Recreation website.
