The orchard may be most famous for its beloved syrup but that's not the only thing this grower is focused on. In fact, Athol Orchards has put extra focus lately on identifying and preserving historic varieties of apples along with propagating what's been deemed "feral" apple varieties that don't have a name.
Currently, the orchard is attempting to raise money through a Kickstarter campaign in order to construct their own farm-based Cider Mill & Bakery. If funded, this would add so much to Athol Orchards as a seasonal and regional destination.
Construction has already begun on their commercial kitchen and bakery, and we can't wait to see the goodness that's to come out of it! In the future, Athol Orchards even hopes to add things like fresh-pressed and hard ciders, a u-pick season in the fall, and even more tasty apple products to their repertoire.
Athol Orchards may be a relatively new grower in the area, but they've already become a favorite with their original apple cider syrup and unique focus on growing "antique" apples. Support a local business and grab some of this iconic syrup on your next grocery trip!
