This trail really feels like one of North Idaho's best kept secrets. It's not widely known about and you'll likely be one of the only people on the trail on any given day. It's a delightful escape from civilization.
The trail takes you right through the heart of the forest. You'll be totally surrounded by the most beautiful trees and foliage. The hiking trail starts off quite narrow but widens out as you get further down the trail.
It isn't long before the sound of rushing water fills the atmosphere. At some point, the trail actually branches into two directions. One trail takes you to the upper falls and the other one takes you to the lower falls. The trails are quite wide and there are signs so don't worry about missing it.
If you take the left branch, you'll be led down to a cedar grove that overlooks Quiet Creek. Shortly after, you'll end up at the lower falls. Here you'll find a wooden staircase and an observation deck which are perfect for viewing the quaint but beautiful falls.
Double back and be sure to explore the right branch, as well. Again, you'll be led through an old-growth forest beside the creek before ending up at the upper falls. These falls are more voluminous than the lower falls as the water cascades down into a gorge that then makes its way to the lower falls.
At .7-miles to the falls and .7 mile back, you won't be spending a lot of time on the trail. However, you could spend hours gazing at the beautiful waterfalls!
