After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
From underrated eateries to upscale, oceanfront restaurants, the Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible restaurants that are loved and frequented by many. These restaurants serve everything from local favorites like loco mocos and poke to American, Portuguese, and Korean classics. And of all the foods you’ll find served at Hawaii’s restaurants, there are two foods we love more than anything else: waffles and pizza. A strange combination, yes, but this is what Wicked HI Cafe does best.
Located on Oahu’s north shore in Waialua, Wicked HI Cafe’s kitchen is tiny. The size of most home kitchens, Wicked Hi Cafe features a waffle iron and two ovens not much bigger than a toaster oven, but the delicious creations served here are sure to impress.
Like many of our favorite restaurants, Wicked HI Cafe specializes in one thing: sourdough. Using an old-world fermentation style that eliminates the need for commercial yeast, the dough used to create their waffles, pizzas, sandwiches, and more is as delicious as can be.
The waffle dough is made with imported 00 Italian flour, vanilla bean, butter, eggs, and honey. It ferments for about 30 hours before being used to make scrumptious sweet and savory waffles.
The vanilla sourdough brioche waffles are made with pearl sugars and topped with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and pure maple syrup. Talk about delicious.
Pizzas, pitas, and toast are also made from Wicked HI’s scrumptious sourdough, and no matter what you order — whether its the honey goat cheese pizza or the avocado toast - your taste buds will surely be satisfied. After all, this is comfort food at its finest.
Wicked Hi Cafe is also known for its delicious slush, a popular farmers’ market staple for many across the island that comes in a variety of flavors, like honey pina colada, honey coffee, and honey dragonfruit lemon. They also make a mighty delicious cup of coffee — hot or iced.
Whether you’re looking for a decadent breakfast, a savory lunch, or an afternoon treat to beat the heat, Wicked HI Cafe is sure to become one of your new go-to favorites. Too bad it’s located all the way on the north shore, though.
Wicked HI Cafe is open Wednesday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed Monday. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook. Have you ever been to this unique Hawaiian cafe? Share your favorite menu item with us in the comments!
