There are countless enchanting places to view the beautiful islands of Hawaii, and the Waipio Valley Overlook deserves a spot right at the top of your list! At the end of a gorgeous road you’ll find a stunning overlook with mountain, valley, and ocean views. Take a moment to soak in this beautiful place right on the Big Island.
If you’re on the Big Island and you are looking for some stunning views, you need to head to the Waipio Valley Overlook.
Located at the end of the Hamakua Heritage Corridor, there’s a lovely viewing area that takes in the ocean beneath you. You can have a bird’s eye view of the Hamakua Coast from this vantage point.
To get to this viewing platform, you’ll have to travel a steep, cliff-hugging road.
Since many rental car companies won’t allow you to take the vehicle out here, you can also hike the road, horseback ride, or join a tour company to take you out.
The valley is home to Hawaii’s largest waterfall, Hiilawe Falls, which cascades an impressive 1,300 feet down to the valley floor below. The valley itself is one mile across and five miles deep.
The state park lookout gives you sweeping views over Waipo Bay and the historic Waipo Valley.
If you have the chance to explore further into the stunning Waipo Valley, it will be a breathtaking trip. There are waterfalls, taro fields, and rivers all through this important valley. Grab a loved one and take in the beauty that Hawaii has to offer!
