The Hawaiian Islands are known across the planet for our incredible beaches and nearly 750 miles of gorgeous coastline, but most people don’t associate the Aloha State with sprawling forests. And while we love hiking through the forest as much as the next person, there’s nothing quite like experiencing Hawaii’s lush forests from above. From adventure parks and ziplining tours that soar high above the trees to treehouses nestled among the canopy, we’re sharing seven treetop destinations you’ll only find in the Aloha State. Adventure awaits.
1. Soar through the jungle at ClimbWorks.
Located on Oahu’s north shore at Keana Farms, Climb Works is home to the longest ziplines on Oahu — and an incredible experience. The ziplining tour lasts approximately three hours and includes eight tandem ziplines, starting with the short and sweet 500-foot line, and ending with the adventure park’s 2,400-foot line. The tour features more than just ziplines, though. The tour begins with a ten minute, two-mile ATV ride up the mountainside, and features swinging bridges, boardwalks, rope climbing, and more.

2. Sleep among the trees at this dreamy treehouse.
Built within two large banyan trees and surrounded by a variety of fruit trees (including mango, papaya, banana, avocado, citrus and fig trees), this magical island oasis is unlike anything you’ve experienced. A 100-step climb through lush foliage will bring you to this north shore nirvana advertised as a temple treehouse. Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and wake up to bird songs at this enchanting Airbnb set on two gorgeous acres, and overlooking one of the most popular surf spots in all of Hawaii — Sunset Beach.

3. Drive through a tunnel of trees on Maluhia Road.
The Holo Holo Koloa Scenic Byway serves as the gateway to Kauai's southern shore and is full of magnificent views and gorgeous stops, including Maluhia Road, a stretch of highway covered in a canopy of eucalyptus trees. In Hawaiian, Maluhia translates to "peace" and "serenity," two words that aptly describe your experience on this picturesque drive.

4. Check out this canopy walk on Hawaii Island.
Set within a towering forest on a private nature preserve, this is one aerial adventure you won’t want to miss. On this terrific, four-hour tour, guests will zip through the skies on nine epic ziplines and walk above the trees on five canopy bridges. The only full canopy tour on Hawaii Island, the Kohala Canopy Tour operated by Hawaii Forest & Trail is certainly one-of-a-kind.

5. Fly above the trees — and a waterfall — at Skyline Eco-Adventures.
Skyline Eco-Adventures Akaka Falls Zipline is truly one-of-a-kind. The epic zipline tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and includes seven tandem ziplines — each more incredible than the last — above lush forests, jaw-dropping scenery, and even a magical waterfall. Along the way, tour guides will teach you all about Hawaii’s flora, fauna, culture, and history — while making sure you never stop laughing.

6. Steal away for a night in one of Hawaii’s most popular treehouses.
Located on Hawaii Island in the middle of a tropical forest at the end of the street is this dreamy retreat perfect for those who want a romantic getaway — or simply to get away from it all. The bamboo treehouse is nestled on top of stilts 15 feet up in the canopy of the forest and accessed via a trapdoor in the lanai — which of course wraps around the entire property and gives you 360-degree views of the surrounding jungle. Designed beautifully with bamboo fixtures, 1970s wallpaper, and simple white bedding, this lovely little treehouse is as cozy as it is luxurious.

With six ziplines, an aerial adventure tour, climbing walls, a massive "King Swing," side-by-side ATV tours, electric mountain bikes, and more, you’re sure to find an adventure the whole family will love at Coral Crater.
