As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
With countless luxury resorts, bed and breakfasts, cottages, and cabins, you have your pick of accommodations on the Hawaiian Islands, whether you’re on vacation from the mainland or visiting from a neighboring island. While all of these are excellent options, sometimes you’re searching for a lodging experience you won’t soon forget – and perhaps a little romance, adventure or nostalgia. Luckily for you, we’ve found the ultimate weekend retreat – a charming treehouse located on Hawaii Island, just miles from Kilauea Volcano.
This is the Hawaii Volcano Treehouse, and it easily looks as though it has been created from your childhood dreams.
Found high in the canopy of a tropical Hawaiian forest and perched above a lava tube, the Hawaii Treehouse gives guests - who must book in advance - the opportunity to live out their childhood fantasy of staying in a treehouse.
To reach the treehouse, guests must walk along a meandering path through the forest, scramble up lava rocks, and step through the gorgeous moon gate and begin your unforgettable stay at this picturesque lodge often described as a playhouse for adults.
Built out of lumber from a recycled church, the cozy treehouse sleeps two people in a single bedroom, living room, and small food preparation area, as well as an indoor and outdoor eating area.
Features include a cedar hot tub, stained glass windows, outdoor shower, composting toilet, an upper and lower lanai, and a trap door to access the top floor.
With the currently erupting Kilauea Volcano located just two miles away, guests have the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with this active volcano. They can even check out the park after dark to watch the glow of Kilauea’s molten lava.
Honestly, who wouldn’t want to stay in this magical treehouse escape? To book your stay, call 808.238.0633, or check out the treehouse’s Airbnb listing or Facebook page.
