With more than 10 years of experience as a professional writer, Megan holds a degree in Mass Media from her home state of Minnesota. After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Many people who aren’t from Hawaii are surprised to learn that our beautiful islands are, in fact, hugely agricultural. From sprawling coffee and macadamia nut farms to massive cattle ranches, the Aloha State is home to countless agricultural ventures. And while we love the islands’ exotic fruit farms and horse farms as much as the next person, there’s no greater day trip destination than this charming goat farm on Oahu’s north shore.
Welcome to Sweet Land Farm! Nestled on Oahu’s north shore in the small town of Waialua is the island’s only certified commercial goat dairy farm and one of the most adorable places you’ll ever visit.
Owner Emma Bello, who grew up in Wahiawa, has loved goats since she was a child but didn’t realize her dream of opening a goat dairy farm until she spent a summer working at Maui’s Surfing Goat Dairy. She brought her plans back to her home island, and Oahu couldn’t be happier.
Producing handmade farmstead goat cheese — also known as chevre — aged feta, and a variety of other goat-milk products, both edible and not, you won’t leave empty-handed. The goat-milk caramels and desserts will surely satisfy your sweet tooth while your skin will love their goat-milk soaps and lotion.
With several flavors of spreadable chevre — sun-dried tomato, green onion, and roasted garlic — Sweet Land Farms will make your charcuterie dreams come true.
While Sweet Land Farm’s website is currently under construction (as of publication), check their Facebook page for updates. Have you ever heard of this charming goat dairy farm on the island of Oahu? Share your experience with us in the comments.
