After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
As the most isolated population center on earth and a true melting pot of cultures, the Hawaiian Islands are home to some of the world’s greatest cuisine. But in order to taste some of most mouthwatering food Hawaii has to offer, you must be willing to leave the resort areas and check out local hole in the wall joints. Case and point: this unassuming eatery on Oahu’s north shore that serves up some of the islands’ best pizza and pasta — at an affordable price, too!
Welcome to Spaghettini, a small unassuming eatery on Haleiwa’s Kamehameha Highway. If I hadn’t walked by the vibrant green building and noticed the wafting smell of freshly baked pizza dough, just as I was trying to decide what to eat for lunch that day, I may have never stopped by — and I would have been severely missing out.
Served on disposable plates and consumed on folding tables and chairs, Spaghettini is the definition of a Hawaiian hole-in-the-wall, but once you look past the unassuming counter-serve restaurant with open-air seating and try a slice of pizza or plate of pasta, you’ll be hooked.
You’ll find all sorts of pasta dishes on the menu here, including fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, chicken marinara over linguine, penne bolognese, shrimp scampi, ravioli, and — of course — spaghetti. You can also order a salad or oven-baked sandwich.
From your standard pizza options like cheese, pepperoni, and vegetarian to island-inspired pizzas topped with pineapple and ham, you can’t go wrong with a slice of pizza. Their spinach and garlic pizza is particularly delicious and for less than $4 a slice, this is an affordable lunch spot — especially when you see how massive a single slice is!
Don't forget to order an appetizer to share with the table. From tomato brushchetta and mozzarella sticks to chicken tenders, fries, and zucchini sticks, you'll be in food heaven at Spaghettini.
No matter what you order, you’ll leave Spaghettini feeling not only happy and full but excited to visit again to try all of the incredible dishes on their menu. So, what are you waiting for? Add this humble little eatery to your Hawaii dining bucket list as soon as possible.
Spaghettini is located at 66-200 Kamehameha Hwy. Suite B, Haleiwa, HI 96712, and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
