With more than 10 years of experience as a professional writer, Megan holds a degree in Mass Media from her home state of Minnesota. After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
While the Hawaiian Islands don’t experience fall weather like much of the mainland, we can certainly partake in all things Halloween, from candy corn and pumpkin carving to haunted houses. And while we love family-friendly Halloween attractions as much as the next person, sometimes you want to partake in some spooky, adults-only fun. If you love all things macabre and a good cocktail, you’ll want to plan a visit to Honolulu’s brand new horror-themed tiki bar from the creators of the famous Haunted Plantation.
Welcome to Skull & Crown Trading Company, a unique establishment that combines our love for tiki culture and all things spooky.
In addition to the hallmarks of a classic Hawaiian tiki bar — floral wallpaper, buoys, nets, tiki sculptures, pineapple lamps, and a dreamy courtyard...
...you’ll find all sorts of creepy odds and ends like human skulls hanging from the ceilings and sitting on counters and plenty of haunting knick-knacks.
Skull & Crown is certainly worth a visit for its unique Halloween-inspired atmosphere, but it is the drinks that will make you come back for more. In addition to rum-focused drinks like the ‘Awa’awa Mai Tai made with Ko Hana Rum, you’ll find local spins on a variety of classic cocktails like the Paniolo Old Fashioned made with li hing mui.
All in all, you’ll find nearly 20 signature cocktails on the menu — served in custom tiki mugs and mismatched glasses, of course — as well as cans of brews from Honolulu Beer Works. No matter what you’re craving, you’ll find it here.
While you will undoubtedly come across a head in a jaw during your time here, Skull & Crown is definitely more fun than terrifying. Come for the ambiance, stay for the refreshingly delicious cocktails.
Address: 62 North Hotel Street, Honolulu, HI 96817
