She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
The Hawaiian Islands are well-known for incredible beaches, coastal towns, and ocean views, but that’s not all the Aloha State has to offer. Hawaii is also home to remarkable ranchlands, and plenty of paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) history. And while every square mile of rural Hawaii is absolutely delightful, there is one ranch that might not have been on your radar — until now, that is.
Tucked away on Kauai’s northern shore is the sprawling 2,500-acre Princeville Ranch. Established during the reign of Kamehameha III, Princeville Ranch was one of the first cattle ranches in Hawaii, and from the 1800s to today, this lush, verdant land has undergone countless changes that have contributed to its history.
Today, Princeville Ranch, which is home to a herd of 200 cows and 60 horses, offers a variety of eco-adventures as well as an events center known for hosting some of the island’s prettiest weddings.
With more than 2,500 acres of breathtaking land, a friendly staff, and nine exciting activities to choose from, the entire family will love a trip to Princeville Ranch.
Explore the ranchlands on a horseback riding or off-roading tour, take to the skies on a zipline tour, or get some exercise by hiking or kayaking around the property.
Not sure what to choose? You’re in luck because Princeville Ranch offers a variety of combo tours to satisfy all of your wanderlust. How does a leisurely horseback ride across the land, hike to an 80-foot waterfall for a swim, and a picnic lunch sound? Romantic, right?
Perhaps you’d like a little more adventure, in which case we might suggest the tour that combines three fast and fun ziplines, a horseback ride or an ATV tour paired with two ziplines, a waterfall swim and picnic lunch. Talk about a thrilling experience!
Princeville Ranch is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on their offerings or to book an excursion, head on over to their website. You can also follow them on Facebook.
