After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Is there really anything better on a hot, summer day than a scoop of homemade ice cream? Sure, there’s shave ice, but sometimes you just need to satisfy a craving for creamy, delicious ice cream. While you will find countless ice cream shops across the Hawaiian Islands, there is one place found off the beaten path that stands out above the rest.
Tucked away in the charming coastal town of Hanalei on the island of Kauai is Pink’s Creamery, a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.
The tiny 360-square-foot ice cream shop has been winning over fans since it opened, and you’ll often discover lines of tourists stretching out the door during busy times. Don’t worry, though: this ice cream is worth the wait.
With more than 18 delicious gourmet, slow-churned ice creams to choose from as well as house-made sorbet and dairy-free varieties, it might take a while to decide on your order.
From classic flavors like cookies and cream, chocolate, strawberry, and mint chip to island-inspired flavors like Kona mud pie, haupia, Hawaiian vanilla bean, Hanalei sunrise, and banana macadamia nut brittle, these flavors are sure to satisfy.
You can even choose from smoothies, extra-thick milkshakes, and malts, but we like the ice cream for one reason: waffle cones made from scratch fresh daily.
Ice cream and sorbet isn’t all you’ll find here, though. Perhaps surprisingly. Pink’s has become famous for its scrumptious grilled cheese. With kalua pork, muenster cheese, and pineapple served on Hawaiian sweet bread and grilled to perfection, keiki and adults alike will love this twist on classic comfort food.
Pink’s Creamery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook. Have you ever indulged at Pink’s?
