With more than 10 years of experience as a professional writer, Megan holds a degree in Mass Media from her home state of Minnesota. After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Tucked away off-the-beaten-path in Waikane Valley, an agricultural area of Oahu home to several nurseries and farms, Origin Bakeshop is a French-inspired patisserie housed in two converted shipping containers on the grounds of Nona’s Orchids.
Inside the baby pink shipping container, you will not only find a counter stocked with packaged pastries in a plexiglass display but tropical plants for sale as well.
From traditional French caneles, croissants, and pain au chocolat, to scones and cookies, you’ll find something here to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
Will you order a mango, white chocolate, and pink peppercorn scone or a tiramisu cookie with a soft, espresso cream center? The chocolate chip, rose, and cardamon cookie is also a best-seller.
Come early: rumor has it that by late morning, some of the items — mainly the most popular croissants and cookies — are often sold out. So, what are you waiting for?
Origin Bakeshop is open Thursday through Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, follow them on Facebook. Have you been to Origin Bakeshop yet? What’s your favorite thing on the menu? Share your opinions and experiences with us in the comments below!
