Many people are surprised to learn that the Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible farms, ranches, and sprawling fields in addition to our pristine beaches in a variety of colors and towering verdant mountains. And while you undoubtedly will find a variety of specialty farms here in Hawaii — you won’t find macadamia nut, coffee, vanilla, and cacao farms anywhere else in America — our produce farms are just as charming, as evidenced by this organic farm that specializes in growing all sorts of exotic fruits.

Nestled off the beaten path along the Hana Highway near the Kipahulu District of Haleakala National Park on Maui, Ono Organic Farms is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.
In Hawaiian, "ono" means delicious, and it is truly descriptive of this 50-acre farm nestled in the jungle. This family owned and operated farm was established more than 40 years ago and is certified organic, growing and harvesting tropical fruit, coffee, and cacao on the southeastern slopes of Mount Haleakala.
Private tours of this pure, organic paradise are offered by reservation only. Taste at least a dozen varieties of exotic fruits, delicious home-grown coffee, and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate. It really doesn’t get sweeter than this.
Guests will learn about exotic fruits and organic family farming surrounded by everything from popular Hawaiian fruits like apple bananas, lychee, mango, guava, sweet lilikoi, papaya, and pineapple…
...to even more exotic fruits like abiu, starfruit, soursop, mountain apples, jackfruit, kumquat, pink and white pomelo, and white and chocolate sapote. Of course, you’ll also find standards like avocados, bananas, tangerines, pomegranates, and oranges as well as cacao, cinnamon, and so much more.
If you can’t make it out to the farm, be sure to visit their roadside market in the town of Hana. It's open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here you will find a variety of fresh, organic produce as well as packaged products like jams, jellies, coffee, and chocolate.
So, what are you waiting for? This little slice of paradise may be hard to get to, but it's well worth a visit from any corner of the island. Exotic fruits, scrumptious coffee, and stunning views await.
