After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
The Hawaiian Island of Maui is an absolute paradise, with gorgeous beaches in a variety of colors, striking mountains, lush rainforests, and cascading waterfalls. And while Maui is one of the world’s most popular vacation destinations, many never venture out of their resorts long enough to experience what the island truly has to offer. There are even fewer who experience the wild and unspoiled natural beauty that is the island’s northwestern shore, and in particular, the stunning, rolling hills found at the Mendes Ranch.
Found just off the breathtaking Kahekili Highway away from the hustle and bustle of Maui’s biggest towns, the Mendes Ranch is an off-the-beaten-path gem that offers stunning, panoramic views, a sense of ohana, and horseback rides.
Choose from a morning or afternoon ride, both of which begin at the Mendes Ranch Corral and will take you down to the edge of the scenic Waihee valley across an actual working ranch...
As you enjoy your horseback ride through the countryside, admire the majestic beauty of the West Maui Mountain’s rolling hills as well as Waihee Valley, central Maui, and even the summit of Haleakala. It truly doesn’t get more beautiful than this.
Each ride is an hour and a half long, with the morning ride departing at 9 a.m. and check in for the afternoon ride at 12:15 p.m. They also offer private horseback rides as well as lessons for individuals and groups.
Overlooking the lush coastline of Maui's northeastern shore as well as the Pacific Ocean, you'll be enamored by every minute of your adventure at Mendes Ranch, so what are you waiting for?
Mendes Ranch is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are closed Sunday. For more information, head over to their website. Have you ever visited this off-the-beaten-path ranch?
