After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and while we’re so excited to be celebrating the holidays Hawaii-style, shopping on a series of small islands in the middle of the Pacific isn’t always easy. Whether you absolutely despise Black Friday or just haven’t had the time to sit down and write out your Christmas gift list yet this season, you’re in luck. This two-day Christmas market held in Honolulu this December is truly a one-stop shop for everyone on your Christmas list.
Held at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center on December 8 and 9, 2018, the Mele Kalikimaka Marketplace is a can’t-miss holiday shopping extravaganza catered to visitors and locals alike looking for holiday gifts and family-friendly holiday fun.
With a focus on locally made products, this massive annual event is home to more than 150 vendors showcasing everything from food products, books, and crafts to apparel and jewelry, as well as a variety of other consumer goods and gifts.
The event even features a local gourmet gift section, prepackaged gift baskets, holiday pop up shops, year-end inventory specials from manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and more.
You will also discover a magical Winter Wonderland, complete with fake snow, make and take crafts from Ben Franklin as well as native Hawaiian arts and crafts perfect for keiki…
The latest addition to this magical holiday extravaganza is the Gingerbread Workshop, where you can decorate your very own gingerbread house, learn about the history of gingerbread, and gather for storytime readings of the Gingerbread Man and other holiday favorites. Reservations are suggested for this unique offering that incurs an additional cost and benefits Kama’aina Kids.
