After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
You know the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover?” Of course, you do, but we bet you didn’t know it also applies to restaurants — especially in Hawaii. While there’s little not to love about the island’s luxury oceanfront restaurants (except maybe the cost), we’d rather visit the islands’ hole-in-the-wall eateries that serve up scrumptious food — like Maui Mike’s!
Welcome to Maui Mike’s Fire-Roasted Chicken! With two Oahu locations — in Wahiawa and Kailua — Maui Mike’s might not look impressive from the exterior, but its down-home comfort food with an island vibe is sure to satisfy your taste buds.
Made to order and served with Aloha in a casual, “come-as-you-are atmosphere,” this local favorite is removed from the tourist crowd and honestly, that’s just the way we like it.
Always fresh and never frozen, Maui Mike’s chickens are raised on a healthy, all-natural diet, and contain no steroids, hormones, antibiotics, or other additives. The chicken is hand-massaged with a special seasoning mix and fire-roasted to perfection.
Order a quarter or half chicken, or opt for a scrumptious sandwich like the “Maui Wowie” melt, bacon melt, or the Mike’s Melt. No matter what you order, your taste buds will surely be satisfied.
Don’t forget about the sides! Choose from a variety of classic and island-inspired sides, including fries, sweet potato fries, baked beans, white rice, coleslaw, and more.
Friendly staff and affordable prices make Maui Mike’s a must-visit for chicken lovers, though because everything is made-to-order, you might experience hefty wait times. No worries, though, because that first bite will surely make up for any wait.
Maui Mike’s Fire-Roasted Chicken has two Oahu locations: in Wahiawa on Kamehameha Highway, which is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and in Kailua at the Enchanted Lake Center, which is open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
