Chocolate can either cheer you up after a bad day or help you celebrate life’s happiest moments. Either way, I’d like to think that chocolate is an entirely necessary part of life. Luckily for us, Hawaii is the only state in America to grow cacao, and as a result, our beautiful islands are home to some of the country’s greatest chocolatiers. And while we love all of Hawaii’s chocolate-focused farms and factories, absolutely everyone with a sweet tooth will want to plan a visit to this massive 10,000-square-foot chocolate factory on the island of Maui.
Welcome to the Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory! Measuring in at approximately 9,722 square feet, it is Hawaii’s largest chocolate factory!
The factory is home to the Kuia Retail Store that features a chocolate tasting bar as well as delicious made-to-order chocolate drinks and grab-and-go desserts.
From classic chocolate bars to a variety of unique flavors like dark chocolate peppermint, dark chocolate lemonade, dark chocolate coffee, and dark chocolate blood orange, there is so much to try at the Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory!
A visit to this chocolate heaven is not complete without checking out the second-floor open-air Ku’ia Pavilion, where guests can take in 360-degree views of West Maui Mountains, the vast Pacific Ocean, and even some of the neighboring islands! You’ll also catch a glimpse of the Lahaina cacao farm!
Another thing that makes the Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory special is that it is the second-largest off-grid commercial facility on Maui. It’s environmentally-friendly, and 100 percent solar-powered, and the ultimate goal is to have a negative carbon footprint — now that’s a mission we can get behind!
