The Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible restaurants, especially in the state’s major tourist destinations. And while there are more restaurants than we could possibly name in Waikiki alone, some are undoubtedly more remarkable than others. In a sea of overpriced restaurants that serve small portions, there is an excellent eatery that not only serves up gigantic, mouthwatering pancakes but classic American dishes with a Hawaiian flair. Let’s dig in.
Welcome to one of our favorite Waikiki restaurants, M.A.C. 24/7 Restaurant + Bar! This eatery nestled within the Hilton Waikiki Beach is known for their Modern American Cuisine (see what they did there?) that’s served up 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Serving up fun and creative twists on American and Hawaiian comfort food made utilizing fresh, local ingredients, M.A.C. 24/7 has everything you could possibly want, when you want it.
While the M.A.C. menu features everything from eggs benedicts, loco moco, and kalbi short ribs to kalua quesadillas, ahi poke, fish tacos, and a variety of thick, juicy burgers, people really come here for the pancakes.
Order the Hawaiian Kine pancakes — made with pineapple, macadamia nuts, and haupia sauce — for an island flair or the sweet and savory Elvis pancakes, which are topped with bacon, peanut butter, and banana.
Other popular pancakes include strawberries and cream, cinnamon streusel, red velvet, and mochi pancakes. Our taste buds are going wild just thinking about all of these unique pancake offerings.
The pancakes are so massive, in fact, that there’s an entire challenge dedicated to consuming them. Brave patrons are given ninety minutes to fully devour three, 14-inch pancakes for a free meal. Now, that may not sound too difficult, but the pancakes weigh in at approximately 5 pounds, and Adam Richman, of Travel Channel’s Man v. Food, wasn’t able to complete the challenge, which is certainly saying something. Are you hungry enough to take on the M.A.C. Daddy Pancake Challenge?
Somehow both family-friendly and chic at the same time, M.A.C. 24/7 is a must-visit in Waikiki, whether you’re looking to take on a food challenge of epic proportions or are craving meatloaf, seafood, a salad or a burger. There’s truly something for everyone at this classic eatery.
M.A.C. 24/7 is located within the Hilton Waikiki Beach at 2500 Kūhiō Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you want to check out their menu and learn more about this classic American eatery, click here.
