After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
As the third-largest of the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu boasts nearly 230 miles of stunning coastline. Oahu is also the most populated of the islands with nearly one million residents, which means that, unfortunately, many of the best beaches on the island are often crowded. Luckily, if you know where to look, you can still find hidden beaches across the island perfect for when you want to get away and truly soak in the beauty of our island paradise — without all of the crowds. And this slice of paradise? Well, it’s one of the best.
Located on Oahu’s northwestern shore, far from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, is the tiny town of Laie — population 6,100.
If it weren’t for the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Mormon Temple, many people might not even know about Laie — but it is here where you will find some of the island’s best beaches, including Laie Beach Park, pictured above.
With crystalline water, fine, white sand, shallow waters created by an offshore sandbar, ample shade, year-round waves, and a postcard-perfect setting, we can’t get enough of this off-the-beaten-path paradise.
This spot is popular among surfers, so if you want to make a splash and swim around, you’ll follow the shoreline north until you reach the area known as "bathtub beach," which features a tiny stretch of sand and gentle waves.

Featuring beautiful turquoise water flowing around old pier pilings, this destination is certainly unique.
The beautiful limestone cliff on the south end is called Pali Kiloi’a, which means "fish-spotter cliff" in the Hawaiian language. This is a popular spot for fishermen to catch o’io, moi, papio, and ulua.
This beautiful stretch of sand is home to an offshore coral reef and is safe for swimming most of the year, but northern swells during the winter months make the water far too rough.
Backed by ironwood trees that provide plenty of shade, Laie Beach Park is perfect for your next beach day. Just make sure you pack all the necessities — there are no facilities here.
Address: 55-205 Kamehameha Highway, Laie, HI 96762
