After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
There is little better than finding fresh fruits and vegetables in Hawaii. Unfortunately, because so much of the food produced in our beautiful state gets exported, the produce we find at grocery stores doesn’t often last too long, considering it has been shipped to the islands. Luckily for us, the Hawaiian Islands are home to some amazing produce farmers and even better farmers’ markets for us to enjoy, including the popular Kapiolani Community College Farmers’ Market in Honolulu.
This is one of the biggest farmers’ markets in Honolulu, and has even become well-known to tourists – you can see lines of busses dropping off tourists from Waikiki who are seeking out a little bit of local flair.
Here you can taste the best vegetables, fruits and flowers the island has to offer, and purchase everything from quality beef and baked goods to local honey and authentic Hawaiian coffee.
Located across from the entrance to Diamond Head, this market is held every Saturday from 7:30 to 11 a.m., and Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. The Saturday event is easily the biggest Farmers’ Market in Honolulu.
Parking is tough - especially on Saturdays - so we suggest taking TheBus or the Waikiki Trolley. Both services drop visitors off at the entrance to the Farmers’ Market, and you’ll avoid spending upwards of 30 minutes searching for a parking spot.
