Enter the Kaupo General Store: a charming shop that gives you the comfortable and nostalgic feeling you might expect when visiting an old country general store in a rural town. Oh, and snacks.

Built in the 1920s out of saltwater-soaked lumber that floated to Kaupo Landing from the sea, the Kaupo General Store is one of the only shops you’ll find on Maui’s southern shore.

Part convenience store, part museum, and 100 percent quirky and historic, the Kaupo General Store is not only a hidden gem, but a magnificent throwback to old world Hawaii.

Once one of the greatest regions on Maui, Kaupo was once home to thriving coastal villages, heiaus of major significance, towering forests, and regular canoe traffic passing between Hawaii Island and Lahaina.
