After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
While the Hawaiian Islands are certainly home to some big names in candy — Big Island Candies, Hawaiian Host and Honolulu Chocolate Company, just to name a few — there is a little-known candy shop that blows all these brands out of the water. Found just miles from the Lihue Airport on Kauai, you’ll want to visit this one-of-a-kind sweet shop as soon you step off the plane for your weekend getaway from a neighboring island or your time spent away from Kauai. There’s truly nothing sweeter than this teeny tiny treat destination.
Nestled on the historic Kilohana Plantation, the Kauai Sweet Shoppe is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
This unique candy company is an "exploration in small batch manufacturing and production." Crafted locally on Kauai by a team of talented artisans, you’ll find love and aloha in each and every bite you take.
Scrumptious bonbons are crafted with uniquely Hawaiian favorites, including dark chocolate macadamia nut, lemon zest, Kauai espresso, and Hawaiian sea salt.
But Kauai Sweet Shoppe’s true specialty is the melt-in-your-mouth caramels. You’ll find traditional more traditional flavors like Hawaiian sea salt caramel and toasted coconut caramel, but there are also a few adventurous offerings. Where else will you ever find guava or li hing mui caramels?
Warm, friendly service and scrumptious treats combine to make this one of the best candy shops in Hawaii. Once you take a single bite of their products, you'll want to visit again and again.
Kauai Sweet Shoppe is located at 3-2087 Kaumualii Hwy., Lihue, HI 96766, and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday and Wednesday. They are open until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
If your sweet tooth isn’t quite satisfied after a trip to this stellar shop, head to Big Island Candies, where you can embark on a super sweet factory.
