Nestled on Oahu’s secluded and peaceful leeward coast, more than 30 miles away from the hustle and bustle that is Waikiki, is a small, secluded farm and cafe located at the base of the Waianae Mountains in the Lualualei Valley. Part restaurant and cafe, part organic farm, part community sourced agriculture headquarters, and part group and homeless shelter, there is no place like Kahumana in the world – let alone Hawaii.
Though the cafe wasn’t opened to the public until 2008, Kahumana was established as a community in the 1970s, and has experienced exponential growth and success ever since - the community now encompasses five campuses on more than 50 acres of farmland.

Meals are created using produce grown on the premises, seafood caught by local fishermen, and responsibly farmed local meats. The cafe also provides vocational training in hospitality and culinary arts for participants in their social programs and transitional housing centers.

In addition to serving up ever-changing organic and local meals - including vegetarian and vegan options, the cafe is also known for their daily soup specials, fresh stir fry, artisanal pesto, lilikoi cheesecake, locally-made gelato, espresso drinks, and kombucha on tap.
