After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Though Hawaii is one of America’s smallest states, there are still plenty of undeveloped gems to discover throughout the islands, including countless incredible farms and ranches. Even on Hawaii’s most populated island will you find rural farms that are worthy of a visit. Nestled on the northeastern tip of Oahu near the north shore’s famous shrimp trucks, Kahuku Farms grows and harvest everything from acai and kale to sunflowers and cacao. They also offer a wagon tour that’s fun for the entire family.
Kahuku Farms is located at 56-800 Kamehameha Hwy., Kahuku, HI 96731, and is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. They are closed Tuesdays. For more information, visit their website. Not able to make it up to the farm? You can buy Kahuku Farms products and produce at the KCC Farmers’ Market each Saturday.
