The Hawaiian Islands are wildly popular among tourists from countries across the world. However, the islands still hold some incredible secrets, as well as places that are completely off-limits to the average person, including hiking trails on both government and private property, abandoned places full of history, and dangerous places. One such place, located off the beaten path on Hawaii Island, is all three of these things.

This seemingly incredible man-made waterslide hiding deep within the Hawaiian jungle has attracted countless thrill-seekers, but more importantly is extremely ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS.

Similar to Kauai’s natural — and legal — lazy river, this waterslide is an old irrigation flume that is now part of a 25-miles irrigation system, but was designed more than 100 years ago to transport sugarcane.

This 30-foot long irrigation flume used as a waterslide was once surrounded by an air of mystery but has gained attention from a variety of Tourism website in the last several years, including Travel + Leisure, the Huffington Post, and TravelPulse.

The structure, however, isn’t properly maintained, the pool at the base of the slide is surrounded on all sides by concrete walls, and it’s located on property that’s strictly off-limits to the public.
