You Can Pretend It's Winter When You Go Skating At The Ice Palace In Hawaii

While we love that the Hawaiian Islands experience near-perfect weather all year long, sometimes you want to pretend we have actual seasons. Of course, you can visit the summits of Mount Haleakala and Mauna Kea — which both receive occasional snowfall — but there’s an easier way if you live on the island of Oahu. We may not have chilly mountain summits, but we do have an ice skating rink where it’s always winter — sort of.

Tucked away in Honolulu near the Aloha Stadium, it’s always a chilly 57 degrees at the Ice Palace, Hawaii’s only full-service ice skating rink.

Ice Palace opened its doors in September 1982 and has been delighting Oahu residents and visitors alike ever since. Many locals have fond memories of skating here as children and now bring their own keiki to share the fun.

Nowhere else in the Aloha State will you be able to partake in one of winter’s greatest pastimes and there’s little better than stopping by during their public skating hours for just $11.50 — rental included.

Of course, if you find yourself enamored by the ice, the Ice Palace also offers ice skating and hockey lessons. Youth and adult programs are both available.

They also offer birthday party packages, where kids can get their energy out as they enjoy ice skating, light shows, games, and a live DJ in a fun and safe environment.

With a snack bar and arcade games, you might want to spend all day hanging out at the Ice Palace.

This isn’t just some local hangout, though. Crowds from across the world have come to skate at Ice Palace Hawaii, including one of the greatest ice skating legends of all time, Kristy Yamaguchi!

Ice Palace’s Public Skating hours are currently as follows: Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. They are closed for public skating Monday and Thursday.
