The trail becomes steep and rocky, with many loose rocks making it dangerous, especially for younger children. Hikers are greeted by a majestic view of Makaha at the halfway point, a perfect spot to pause and take in the scenery.
The hike's pinnacle is the series of bunkers at the top, including the spectacularly painted hot pink pillbox.

As you explore, you'll come across an iron rod protruding from the ground – a relic from the past where a WWII .30 caliber MG machine gun once stood.

This reminder of the area's military past adds depth to the hike. It's important to note that the trail does not continue beyond the pink pillbox. The path becomes increasingly perilous, with loose gravel and steep drops, leading to potentially dangerous falls.
