After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
When you call an archipelago surrounded by the Pacific Ocean home, you inevitably become spoiled by the incredible, fresh seafood options available to you. While we love splurging on fancy seafood dinners every once in a while, it is the local, little-known restaurants that serve the most mouthwatering seafood the Hawaiian Islands have to offer. There is only one restaurant, however, that stands out in a crowd — and it was recently featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives recent special takeout episode.
With two locations on the island of Oahu in Kaimuki and Kaneohe, Fresh Catch is one of our all-time favorite takeout spots, and it’s received some pretty awesome recognition as of late.
Hosted by celebrity chef Guy Fieri, the takeout episode featuring Fresh Catch aired on Friday, May 1 on The Food Network, and was shot using computers and cell phones.
One of only 12 chefs nationwide selected to appear in Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives takeout episodes, Reno Henriques serves up some mighty delicious seafood, plate lunches, poke, and sashimi platters.
Guy raved about the ahi poke with limu seaweed and suggests that if you're feeling adventurous, you try the smoked octopus topped with tobiko — an island favorite.
This one-stop-shop for seafood and meat features a variety of tasty dishes every day of the week, from ahi katsu, garlic salmon, and poke bowls to fried chicken, mushroom steak, poke fried rice, crab sandwiches, and seasoned fries.
In total, Fresh Catch offers more than a dozen tasty varieties of poke all made with fresh, local seafood and is even available for catering. No matter what your taste buds are craving, you’ll find it at this unassuming deli.
If you're looking for authentic local seafood, Fresh Catch absolutely deserves a spot on your dining bucket list — and there's no better time to visit than right now.
The original Fresh Catch location in Honolulu — as well as the Kaneohe location — is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit their website.
