After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Fishing enthusiasts, this one’s for you. While it’s true that anyone can fish with a pole on the Hawaiian shore without a salt-water fishing license, there are few places in the Aloha State where you can go freshwater fishing. The next time you’re in the mood for a fun day trip destination the entire family will love, head on over to Ali’i Agricultural Farms where you will discover three well-stocked ponds perfect for casting a line and catching some fish.
Managed by Ali’i Agriculture Farms and nestled in central Oahu, Fishing Farms Hawaii offers recreational fishing services that are fun for the entire family.
Rotated so each pond doesn’t become over-fished, visitors will discover three ponds are stocked with healthy tilapia, catfish, and grass-carp. There’s also a pond available for prawn fishing.
Fishing off the coast of Hawaii can be difficult if you don’t have any prior fishing knowledge, but Fishing Farms Hawaii makes it easy — and fast. Instead of waiting hours for a nibble, you’re almost guaranteed to be reeling in your first fish within minutes.
There’s truly no better way to get outdoors and learn a new skill. At just $15 per rod — which includes a homemade dough bait infused with a secret ingredient the fish can’t resist — it’s also an affordable excursion!
An on-site fishing truck provides cleaning and cooking services so you can enjoy your catch right here at the farm — or, if you’d rather, you can purchase the fish you’ve caught and take it home with you.
While you can visit with your family, Fishing Farms Hawaii is also an excellent destination for school field trips, company bonding retreats and celebrations, and church and youth groups. This is one wholesome activity everyone can enjoy.
After all, where else can you rent fishing rods, catch your own lunch, and have it cooked up for you all in one excursion? Nowhere that we’re aware of.
Fishing Farms Hawaii is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’d like to fish for tilapia, grass carp, and catfish, the cost is $15 for one fisher, including one fishing pole and one bag of bait. Non-fishing bystanders will pay $3 but the pole may be shared among your group. For prawn fishing, the cost is per hour and per pole, and you get to keep everything you catch: one hour is $25, two hours for $45, three hours for $65, and four hours for $80.
