After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Grocery stores in the Aloha State come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and styles — from your favorite, perhaps slightly run-down, Asian market stuffed to the brim with goodies to the luxury grocery stores found in Hawaii’s resort communities that cater to tourists. This one-of-a-kind Waikiki market, in particular, certainly stands out in a crowd and we absolutely can’t wait to show you around.
Located on the first and second floors of the Ritz Carlton Residences in the heart of Waikiki, Dean & DeLuca is one of the most unique markets you’ll ever visit.
The first Honolulu outpost of this American chain of upscale grocery stores that got its start back in 1977, Dean & DeLuca once had several locations across the globe, from the United States to Japan, South Korea, and India. Today, however, there are only two locations remaining, both of which are found in Honolulu.
On the first floor, you’ll find coffee, pastries, desserts, and prepared salads and sandwiches, while the second floor is known for its wine, cheese, meats, and paninis. You’ll find seating available on both floors so you can enjoy your food without leaving the market.
International flavors are carefully curated and an emphasis is placed on highlighting local Hawaiian ingredients and tastes. You’ll even find a store-exclusive blend of coffee sure to satisfy your caffeine cravings.
Whether you are searching for ingredients to prepare a meal or choose to enjoy your selections in the market’s second-floor wine bar overlooking the ocean, you’re sure to be impressed by this grocery store that’s unlike any we’ve ever seen before.
Dean & DeLuca is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook. Have you ever been to this unique retailer before? Will you be stopping by for a shopping trip or to enjoy a glass of wine upstairs?
