With more than 10 years of experience as a professional writer, Megan holds a degree in Mass Media from her home state of Minnesota. After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
With endless summer weather comes endless opportunities for summer activities: swimming, surfing, hiking, and perhaps my favorite — camping trips. We understand that not everyone enjoys roughing it at Hawaii’s most rustic campgrounds, though, so today, we’re checking out one of the best glamping destinations in Hawaii.
Nestled at the base of the West Maui Mountains, Camp Olowalu is pure magic, and you’ll want to spend the night in one of their downright dreamy tentalows as soon as your schedule allows.
Though located just six miles southeast of Lahaina, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from it all at Camp Olowalu.
Located just steps from the Pacific Ocean, this private beachfront oasis is the perfect spot to enjoy some of the best swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, and whale-watching Maui has to offer.
Nestled on top of a raised platform, these tentalows are part tent, part bungalow, and 100 percent unique. Each tentalow features a private, open-air shower, sink, and dressing area as well as interior solar lights, and Adirondack chairs on the lanai.

Choose from two different sizes based on your needs.
Six individual plantation-style cabins arranged in a semi-circle sleep a total of 36 individuals and feature private bathrooms, and a 900-square foot kitchen and mess hall. These cabins are perfect for family reunions, corporate retreats, and events of all kinds — even weddings!
If tent camping is more your speed, consider booking one of the 35 campsites nestled along Olowalu Beach.
Common amenities include a dozen bathrooms with toilet, sink, mirror, hand soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as well as picnic benches, BBQ grills, an outdoor dishwashing station, private parking, and an internet hotspot at the check-in area.
