There’s a stunning two-tiered waterfall that falls into the perfect swimming hole in Maui.
Located in Haleakala National Park, this spot is a perfect escape from the heat of the day. Surrounded by lush rainforest, and pools of cool, clear water, it’s a great way to spend the day.
This waterfall and pools are considered one of the most iconic spots on Maui.
Hit the pools early to avoid the crowds. This is a popular place to explore, so if you want a little more serenity, the off-hours will offer some peace and quiet.
The pools aren’t actually sacred, though.
While not known for sure, there’s a rumor that a local business owner coined the name to increase attraction to the site. But the truth is, these pools would be a must-see even if they aren’t sacred!
They’re located by the Pipiwai Trailhead, which is considered to be one of the most amazing hikes on the island.
Pair the two together and cool off with a refreshing dip in the pools after completing Pipiwai Trail. It would be the perfect ending to a glorious hike.
Avoid the pools after heavy rain.
The area is known to flash flood, and the pools can become dangerous.
Since the waterfalls are located inside the Haleakala National Park, there’s actually a $15 per person admission fee.
If you’re traveling around a bit, consider upgrading and purchasing their $25 annual pass, which also gives you access to Volcanoes and Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Parks on the Big Island. That way you have the opportunity to dig deep and explore some of the most beautiful spots in the Aloha State!
If you have the option of visiting ‘Ohe'o Gulch and the Seven Sacred Pools, don’t skip it.
This is an enchanted place on Maui that is just begging for a visit. You’ll love the beauty that surrounds you when you cool off in this incredible swimming hole in Hawaii.
