After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
The Hawaiian Islands are known for several beverages: Kona coffee, mai tais, Blue Hawaiians, and pineapple juice come instantly to mind, but the Aloha State also produces some of the best brews in the country. From Kona Brewing Company to Waikiki Brewing Company, these breweries produce some mighty delicious brews, but we absolutely love the underrated gem that is the Aloha Beer Company.
Tucked away in the heart of the Kaka’ako neighborhood of Honolulu, the Aloha Beer Company is a beer lover’s paradise sure to impress everyone from casual beer drinkers to craft brew enthusiasts and those just looking for a good time.
Tropical flavors and ingredients are showcased heavily through these brews and you’ll love guessing which flavors are used in each brew: is that blue agave syrup and bananas? Yum!
Have a friend who’s not into beer but still want to invite them to tag along with the group? Aloha Beer Company serves a variety of crafted cocktails sure to impress any palate.
Created by Robert McGee, a noted chef, restauranteur, and pork purveyor, the menu at Aloha Beer Company was inspired by — and designed to pair perfectly with — Aloha’s signature brews. Many menu items feature beer as an ingredient and range from pupus and shared boards to sandwiches and loaded fries.
This spot is so much more than just a taproom, though: you’ll also find a hidden speakeasy on the premise. The Hi Brau Room is a stunning 1920s bordello-inspired whiskey bar and cocktail lounge sure to transport you immediately back to the days of Prohibition.
Whether you plan to grab a cold one with co-workers pau hana in the taproom or enjoy a special occasion with friends at the HI Brau Room, you won't be disappointed at Aloha Beer Company, so what are you waiting for?
The Aloha Beer Company is open Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. They are closed Sunday. Reservations are accepted for groups of any size at any time in the Taproom and Carport, while groups are limited to up to 8 in the Hi Brau Room and reservations are only accepted until 6 p.m. — after this, seating is on a first-come, first-served breakfast. Call (808) 544-1605 or email aloha@alohabeer.com to confirm. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
