You can’t get much more American than hanging out at the beach, barbecuing with friends and family, and celebrating the birth of our great nation – except dramatic fireworks displays. Luckily for us, Hawaii is home to some pretty incredible Independence Day fireworks shows; let’s be honest, these 15 fireworks shows are sure to blow 2015’s best displays out of the water.
Unless otherwise noted, all events take place on Monday, July 4.
The only fireworks show to launch from three separate platforms, Ala Moana Center celebrates its 25th Annual 4th of July Celebration + Fireworks with four days of 25 percent savings, and a massive fireworks show on the 4th at 8:30 a.m.
2. Lahaina Town Action Committee’s 4th of July Celebration, Maui
The entire town of Lahaina will be abuzz with celebration on the fourth – from live music at a variety of venues throughout town to holiday specials at local restaurants and shops. But the real celebration starts at 8 p.m., when fireworks are set off a barge offshore Front Street.

3. USS Battleship Missouri’s Picnic on the Pier, Oahu
At 6 p.m. July 4th, hang out on the Mighty Mo’s pier for an Independence Day spectacular. Bring your own food, blankets, beach chairs, and drinks and listen to live entertainment from artists Jeremy Cheng and Alex Oasay, starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks start at 9:05 p.m., and tickets are required.
Bring the family down to Hilo Bay for games, cook-offs, music, and more. The Hawaii County Band will perform at the Mo’oheau Bandstand at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks over the bay at 8 p.m.
From 4 to 9:30 p.m., head to Kauai’s western shores for cultural demonstrations, exhibits, crafts, a plantation museum, game booths, and, of course, a fireworks show accompanied by live music.
6. Schofield Barrack’s 4th of July Spectacular, Oahu

Open to Department of Defense cardholders and their sponsored guests, this two-day event features concerts, rides, games, food, and fireworks. Musical guests include Kelsea Ballerini on the 3rd, and Daughtry on the 4th. Fireworks are set to go off at 8:30 p.m. on the Fourth.
7. Kailua-Kona Independence Day Parade & Fireworks Extravaganza, Big Island
The 21st annual Kailua-Kona Independence Day Parade will start at 6 p.m. at the Kekuaokalani Gym + Pool Complex on Kuakini Highway. After this incredible parade, at 8 p.m., fireworks will be launched over the bay, provided by Hawai’i Pyrotechnics and Explosives.
From 5 to 10 p.m. at the Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands, enjoy live music from Dishwalla and other local artists, as well as a fireworks show. This event is free and open to the public.
Open to all military-affiliated personnel and their sponsored guests, the celebration will feature a petting zoo, Xpress Train, a live performance by Three Days Grace at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks at 9 p.m.
The day starts with free entertainment, games and contests at the Great Waikoloa Rubber Duckie Race + Benefit, followed by an awe-inspiring fireworks show over Waikoloa Bowl at 8 p.m.
11. Kailua Fourth of July Parade, Fireworks + Airshow, Oahu
This fireworks show launches from Flat Island across from Kailua Beach, and is an absolutely magnificent display – especially when the Twilight airshow was added to the annual programming. While the exact time has not been announced yet, we will update this post when more information is available.
With live music, food and a fireworks show, Turtle Bay is sure to be bustling this Fourth of July! The display is set to begin at 8 p.m., and there will be food available for purchase, as well as a parking fee.
On July 2, head to Dole Park for the Lanai Pineapple Festival, an annual event featuring crafts, games, food booths, prizes, exhibitors, and entertainment, ending with a fabulous fireworks display at 9 p.m.
As the self-proclaimed largest aerial fireworks show on Kauai, this 26th annual event will feature Hawaiian music, dance, and food starting at 4 p.m., followed by a fireworks show after the sun goes down.
In addition to all the official fireworks shows and Independence Day celebrations across the Hawaiian Islands, many locals are sure to partake in setting off fireworks of their own, and I’m sure the sky will be lit up for many hours throughout the holiday weekend in celebration of our incredible nation!
