I’ve lived in a couple of other states in my lifetime, but there’s nothing quite like home. If you’ve never experienced living away from Georgia, I have to tell you, it really sucks! Here are 10 things people miss the most about Georgia when they leave:
1. Southern Food
It's really hard to find great southern food when you're not in the south anymore. Also, people won't always know that you want a "sweet" tea when you ask for tea.
2. Family Get-Togethers
More than likely, most of your friends and family live in Georgia and more than likely, y'all get together every chance you get! This is definitely one thing you'll miss the most when you leave Georgia.
3. Southern Hospitality
Everyone here meets you with a smile and a greeting. Go anywhere else and people will look at you like you're crazy if you say anything to them without knowing them!
4. All the greenery
Something we definitely take for granted is all of the green space we have in Georgia. We're definitely blessed to still have our trees, mountains and forests!
5. The beautiful mountains
Speaking of greenery, you'll surely miss our beautiful North Georgia Mountains. There are just no other mountains that can match the majesty of the ones found in Georgia.
6. The Georgia coast
You'll miss the Georgia coast and all of its unique blending of coastal and southern customs. You won't find communities like the ones found in Darien, Savannah, and in our coastal islands, anywhere else!
7. The great weather
The temperate weather will definitely be missed. Yes it gets hot in the summer, but it's pretty great in the winter, spring and fall. I'll definitely say that great weather 75% of the year can't be beat by most states.
8. All the amazing history
From the architecture to the many museums, Georgia is home to some of the oldest towns and buildings in the country. We have the nation's most complete set of Civil War artifacts and numerous national historical sites. The great history here definitely cannot be found anywhere else.
9. Collegiate Football
For sure, you'll definitely miss going to a Georgia game or a Georgia Tech game. The camaraderie that comes from attending a Georgia game in Georgia cannot be felt anywhere else!
10. The small town feel
Last but certainly not least, you'll miss the small town feel of Georgia. No matter where you go, even in Atlanta, Georgia just has a slower pace than the rest of the country. You can take your time, smile at your neighbor and take in the beauty of the state of Georgia.
