I think we need to have a quick chat about one of the most underrated places in the South. Everyone seems to fangirl over Northern Georgia for the mountains, nature, and incredible waterfall opportunities (The Ultimate North Georgia Road Trip Is A Perfect Natural Adventure). Then of course, you have the eastern side of things, which really between Savannah and the ocean and Brunswick stew, you can’t get much better than that. But what about Western Georgia? Why have we forgotten about this part of the state?
The good news is, we haven’t, and here are 13 reasons why Western Georgia is the most underrated, yet exciting part of the whole state.
This little secluded gem was a retreat for Franklin D. Roosevelt from the 1930s until his death. A historical wonder, guests can step back in time and see artifacts, photos and paintings from a different world. This museum is only in Western Georgia, which makes it a pretty special place in the hearts of Georgians.

Award winning, 2,500-acres of pure, natural beauty. Visiting Callaway Gardens any time of the year will surely bring you pleasure and purpose. Bring a camera, bring your family and stroll around these famed gardens for a one-of-a-kind Georgia gem.
The truth is, you can't find authentic Korean food just anywhere in Georgia. But when you travel west to the town of La Grange, you'll find Todamgol, where you can become immersed in Bulgogi and kimchee stew until your heart's content.
Nicknamed The Little Grand Canyon, Providence Canyon is a truly special sight in Georgia. As one of the seven wonders of the state, you'll be hard-pressed to find something more beautiful on the western side of the state. Bring your hiking boots and your camera for an experience you'll never forget.

One of the most relaxed ways to spend an evening, stroll down the Columbus Riverwalk right on the Georgia/Alabama border. This length walk will take you on the edge of the river, admiring some of the best parts of the charmingly wonderful town of Columbus.
Radium Springs is an amazing experience for anyone who visits. These waters were said to be healing waters years ago, and anyone who swam in the turquoise waves would benefit tremendously. Now, the waters are closed off to swimmers, but the springs can still be admired from afar.
