I think we need to have a quick chat about one of the most underrated places in the South. Then of course, you have the eastern side of things, which really between Savannah and the ocean and Brunswick stew, you can’t get much better than that. But what about Western Georgia? Why have we forgotten about this part of the state?
The good news is, we haven’t, and here are 13 reasons why Western Georgia is the most underrated, yet exciting part of the whole state.
1. Little White House - 401 Little White House Rd, Warm Springs, GA 31830
This little secluded gem was a retreat for Franklin D. Roosevelt from the 1930s until his death. A historical wonder, guests can step back in time and see artifacts, photos and paintings from a different world. This museum is only in Western Georgia, which makes it a pretty special place in the hearts of Georgians.

3. Todamgol authentic Korean food - 1841 Roanoke Rd, Ste12, LaGrange, GA 30240
The truth is, you can't find authentic Korean food just anywhere in Georgia. But when you travel west to the town of La Grange, you'll find Todamgol, where you can become immersed in Bulgogi and kimchee stew until your heart's content.

Nicknamed The Little Grand Canyon, Providence Canyon is a truly special sight in Georgia. As one of the seven wonders of the state, you'll be hard-pressed to find something more beautiful on the western side of the state. Bring your hiking boots and your camera for an experience you'll never forget.

5. Columbus Riverwalk - Bay Avenue and 11th Street, Columbus, GA 39701
One of the most relaxed ways to spend an evening, stroll down the Columbus Riverwalk right on the Georgia/Alabama border. This length walk will take you on the edge of the river, admiring some of the best parts of the charmingly wonderful town of Columbus.
6. Radium Springs - Radium Springs Road, Albany, GA
Radium Springs is an amazing experience for anyone who visits. These waters were said to be healing waters years ago, and anyone who swam in the turquoise waves would benefit tremendously. Now, the waters are closed off to swimmers, but the springs can still be admired from afar.
If you’re looking for a quiet weekend away to learn and explore some of the most underrated parts of Georgia, then these famed Indian mounds are for you. Not only will you educate yourself on the people who called Georgia home for many, many years, but you’ll also see artifacts and native excavated treasures to admire.
8. Andersonville National Historic Site - 760 POW Rd, Andersonville, GA 31711
If you’re a fan of history, especially Georgia history, then this is the place for you. Not only is this National Historic site quite a sobering experience but it also will be an educational one. With many things to see and do, you can easily spend an entire day here exploring the depths of Georgia history.

13. Tallapoosa, Georgia - 25 E. Alabama St., Tallapoosa, GA 30182
The quaint and charming town of Tallapoosa, Georgia is well worth a visit if you’ve never been. Not only is the downtown area truly picturesque, but also there is a city historical walking trail that guests can take to get a true feel of this tiny town and see the beauty of within.
