Are you looking for a fabulous way to spend a day in the Peach State? Wassaw Island makes a great day trip in Georgia when you want to spend quality time outdoors. Take your boat out and motor over to this enticing barrier island. If you do not own a boat, you can reserve your spot on a sightseeing boat. Or if you’re an experienced paddler, join a kayak tour. Beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and the loggerhead sea turtles are awaiting your arrival!
Wassaw Island is one of the Sea Islands located off the coast of Georgia.
Explore 20 miles of dirt trails where you can hike and bike. Fishing is allowed in the saltwater estuaries adjacent to the refuge, though not in the freshwater ponds.

If you are cruising to the island in your own boat, you can launch near Savannah from the marina on Skidaway Island, Isle of Hope, or the public launch near the Skidaway Island Bridge.
Please note that drinking water and restrooms are not available on the island.
