Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). Fall in Georgia is truly one of my favorite times, even when we’re having unusually warm temperatures. I recently had the opportunity to visit Washington Farms in Bogart, GA and it was such a fun experience! I was traveling with myself and an adult friend, but this place is an absolute wonderland for kids, with more than a dozen activities to enjoy. Truthfully, I was a bit worried that there wouldn’t be too much for adults to enjoy without kids, but I had a lovely afternoon and easily spent three hours at the farm. This is such a family-friendly atmosphere that truly has something for everyone. It’s only about an hour outside of the state capital, and it’s one of the best things to do with kids in the fall near Atlanta, plus one of the best pumpkin patches near Athens, GA. Check it out:
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate. If you're visiting on a weekend, it's advisable to purchase the tickets in advance, as time slots do sometimes sell out.

Available activities vary by the day and time you're visiting. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and pretty much everything seemed open, with plenty of options for activities.

The Mega Slide was one of the first things I saw, and it looked like so much fun!

I was immediately drawn to an area with pigs that were preparing for the afternoon's pig races.

I absolutely fell in love with one - I wanted to take him home!

Unfortunately, "my" pig didn't win his race, but this was still a highlight of the afternoon. The little guys running around the miniature track were absolutely adorable, and it was great to see how into the festivities the kids got.
Next up for me was a visit to the corn maze. I had it in my head that it was going to be quite simple, but it was actually pretty difficult! I got lost in the maze for about 45 minutes and finally made my way out.
I was tempted by the delicious-looking frosted apple cider slush, which comes with a souvenir mason jar, but ended up going with a freshly-squeezed lemonade and a strawberry smoothie. Both were delicious, and there were several different food selections on hand, too.
The petting zoo had rabbits, baby chicks, goats, burros, and more.

There's even a pumpkin patch where you can choose your own to carve up into a jack-o'-lantern.

The pumpkin patch is free to enter, so if you aren't interested in all the activities and just want to visit one of the best pumpkin patches near Atlanta, head on out!
There were dozens more activities here geared toward younger kids – I didn’t have any with me, so I didn’t check them out, but families will definitely find more than enough here to entertain the little ones! You can check out a full list of activities at the Washington Farms website or the Washington Farms Facebook page. This year’s fall season runs from September 23 to November 5, 2023.
