To be honest, I’m not sure what’s more disturbing….the mysteries themselves or the fact that they still remain unsolved. You may not have had any idea about the type of events that layer the history of Georgia, but today you’re going to find out some of the most alarming, and mystifying ones.
This one is paranormal activity at its finest. Jim and Kay Tatum built their dream home in a suburb outside of Atlanta. This was the home they hoped to retire in. However, just five short months after they moved, strange incidents started occurring. Ghosts lurking in the halls, mysterious and loud noises at all hours of the night, spirits tugging at their clothes. Although Parapsychologist William Roll has investigated this case, nothing else was ever discovered or revealed as to why it ever became a haunted house. The haunted Tatum House is a private residence, but this 1913 era house that shares the same name looks just as spooky. Maybe the ghosts got their destination mixed up!
On November 2, 2007 in Duluth, Georgia, Justin Gaines told his parents he was going out to a local bar for College Night. That was the last time they heard from their son. Police investigation focused on an altercation that happened inside the bar that evening, along with the 24 phone calls Justin made after leaving the bar. But the evidence left them empty-handed. Justin was last seen on a surveillance camera outside the bar. At 2 a.m., the phone went dead. That was the last time anyone ever saw, or heard from, Justin Gaines.

On August 31, 2004 in Richmond Hill, Georgia, a man was discovered naked and unconscious, sleeping by a dumpster near a local Burger King. At the scene, EMS arrived and thought the man may have been hit in the head with a blunt object and sent him to St. Joseph's Hospital. It was there that doctors discovered the man had zero recollection of who he was. Local police searched records of missing persons and abandoned vehicles, and the story even received national attention. Yet, still to this day, Benjaman Kyle is the only American citizen officially listed as missing, despite the fact that his whereabouts are known.

Somewhere outside of Valdosta, Georgia there is a bridge thoughtfully dubbed by the locals as Spook Bridge. Although the history of the bridge is quite rich, the dark legends that surround it are even more fascinating; such as the legend involving the couple who walked along the bridge one day, which mysteriously resulted in the husband pushing the wife off to her death. Another legend involves a high school couple who wrecked their car on the bridge and plummeted to their deaths into the river below. No one knows if the bridge is cursed, or perhaps haunted, so it remains a mystery still to this day.
Often referred to as "American Stonehenge," this granite monument was built in 1979 in Elbert County, Georgia. There are eight languages in total engraved on these stones, each relaying "new" commandments. The purpose and origin of these stones remain a mystery today, although we do know that they were commissioned by a man who went by the pseudonym R.C. Christian. Perhaps the creepiest commandment of them all? "Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."
