Georgia is filled with beautiful, charming, and historical towns, all of which make up the fabric of this great southern state. Washington, Georgia is a small town of fewer than 5,000 residents, with so much history and community, it’s hard to pass up a chance to explore.
Washington, Georgia is the county seat of Wilkes County and was established back in 1780. This makes it one of the oldest towns in the entire state.
Part of what makes this small town so special is the history. With the original name of Heard’s Fort, Washington was at a time designated as the state capital during the American Revolutionary War.
