Amicalola Falls State Park sits on 829 acres, right between Ellijay and Dahlonega in Dawsonville, Georgia.

The name of the park is derived from a Cherokee language word meaning "tumbling waters."

It's nestled in the middle of the park and requires a quick jaunt to see it.

It's at this spot that you can climb the stairs, placing you right at the forefront of the Falls to appreciate the wonderment from a front-row seat.

Another fun fact that makes the Amicalola Falls such an amazing place to hike, is that just a mere 10 miles away passing under a stone arch marks the start of the Appalachian Trail Approach Trail. So if you’re feeling ambitious, you can just try your hand at that 3-5 month trek.
