When it comes to vacation destinations and day trips in Georgia, a few spots tend to get a lot of the hype. Sure, Atlanta and Savannah are great. Don’t get us wrong, they’re totally worth a visit! But we have plenty of other great cities and small towns that are just as worthy of the spotlight! Next time you’re looking for a slightly off-the-wall day trip in Georgia, check out some of these Peach State spots:
Macon, GA, USA
Macon gets a bad rap, but it's a fantastic city with a lot to do. It's got a charming downtown historic district, tons of music history, and has some great restaurants that are worth a visit. Did you know it's the cherry blossom capital of the world? This is truly one of our favorite cities in Georgia.
Albany, GA, USA
Albany is tucked away in southwest Georgia, in an area that doesn't tend to get much attention from tourists. The thriving metropolitan area has a population of nearly 75,000 people. If you travel just outside the city, you can see Radium Springs, one of the great natural wonders of Georgia.

Columbus, GA, USA
With 200,000 residents, Columbus is one of the larger cities in Georgia. However, it's got a great small town feel. There are lots of great natural areas to enjoy: you can't beat that Chattahoochee River frontage!

Augusta, GA, USA
Augusta is right along the border with South Carolina, and it's another city in Georgia that sometimes gets a bad reputation from locals. But it's actually a lovely area, particularly if you're into nature. There are some great trails here that are definitely worth a visit.
