Every state has its own stereotypes of the people living there, which can be either way off or spot on. In Georgia, a lot of those stereotypes ring true, and they might just happen to stick around forever. If you’ve grown up in Georgia, then the truth is, you might already have these habits without even realizing it! Do you know how to make the perfect tomato sandwich? Do you have a favorite waffle house? Do you even know what ice tea tastes like unsweetened?! See how many of these habits you’ve taken on and maybe you’ll get a good laugh doing so.
For Georgians, much of life revolves around mealtime. So, if you start preparing for dinner around breakfast, then you’ll be in good company. And if you eat a big dinner around lunchtime, welp, then you’re likely from Georgia.
Something you learn from a young age in Georgia is that saying hello to strangers is common practice. If you’re walking by, you make eye contact and nod, and heck - you can even throw in a wave for good measure.

3. Iced tea will never be unsweetened unless on purpose.
Sweet tea is a staple for many Georgians. If you order iced tea at a restaurant in Georgia, it’ll come sweetened. If you order an iced tea outside of Georgia state lines, you better have sugar on the ready.

4. Knowing a sandwich can be made without cheese or meat.
Yes, sometimes the best sandwiches have three ingredients—tomatoes, mayo, and white bread. Nothing more, nothing less. Well, maybe some salt is thrown in for good measure.
If you’re from Georgia, then you likely already know how many Peachtree Streets there are and how to differentiate when giving or receiving directions.
If you grew up in Georgia then you likely already have a favorite Waffle House. You also probably have a least favorite. Which is totally normal and not at all strange…to other Georgians.
8. The four P’s—peaches, pies, peanuts, and pollen.
You are likely very familiar with these four things. Hopefully not all at the same time. But you are well-versed in what they all represent in Georgia.

9. Speaking of peanuts, you don’t roast them, you boil them.
Some states roast ‘em, which is totally fine. But if you’re from Georgia, you likely already know what boiled peanuts taste like and in that case, you’ll never eat them prepared differently.
So, how many of these Georgia habits seem to fit the bill for you? Do you have more than you think should be added? Make sure to let your fellow Georgians know in the comments section! We’d love to see part two of this list from your suggestions.
