Most people don’t know there’s a trolley tour in Georgia in the state’s second capital city. But this magical ride through Milledgeville is the best way to see this historic city.
Milledgeville was Georgia's second capital city. If you've never visited this historic treasure, then you're in for a real treat, including loads of historic old homes to gawk at.
You'll also love strolling though historic downtown and exploring the many shops and restaurants.
But the absolute best way to see this wonderful old city is to take the trolley tour.
It departs from the Convention and Visitors Bureau at 200 W Hancock St. once per day, Monday through Saturday. The route takes you through some of the oldest parts of town.
And stops at some of the most unique places you'll see in Milledgeville. There are rotating interior visits of the places shown in this article, but you'll at least always get to see the exteriors.
For instance, you may not always get to go inside the old Governor's mansion, but you'll at least stop and get out to take a look at this grand old residence.
Another key stop on the tour: the old captal building and
museum .
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and also is the home of the Georgia Military College.

The two-hour tour is offered only once per day at 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. The cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6.
