But this one particular state park in Georgia has all that and much, much more. This is not your average state park experience, and once you see the tree climbing excursions offered, you’ll be itching to sign up.

Panola Mountain State Park is quite the place in Georgia—perfect for families to spend an entire weekend away in nature.

The park itself was created in the early 1970's to protect the delicate ecological features of this 100-acre granite monadnock.

Almost everyone remembers a time throughout their childhood where they scaled their favorite tree for epic views of their neighborhood.

Well at this tree-climbing excursion, guests can still scale that gargantuan tree, just with way more safety equipment.

Tree Top Excursions is one of the most unique programs offered throughout any of Georgia’s state parks.

Climbers are able to learn the safety techniques behind climbing, the types of rope which assist in technical tree climbing, plus snag some pretty spectacular views of the park.

The tree that guests can climb within the grove is named Naomi Ruth—it is a true Southern Red Oak that tops out at 100-feet.

While the most common climbs are the introductory climb or the group event climb, there are a few others that are worth considering.

The ZZZ’s in the Trees, for instance, allows guests to spend the night in the treetops for an overnight camping experience that truly lets you sleep under the stars.

Prices range for the Tree Top Excursion—from $15 for an introductory climb to $90 for the Zzz’s in the Trees.

Climbers of all levels should be encouraged to try this wonderful activity, and feel what it’s like to be a kid again.
