From the mountain tops to the valleys and streams, there’s no denying the stunning beauty of this state! These pictures are not only beautiful, but historical as well–and each one tells the story of a small piece of our state’s past and present.
Just in case you forgot, here are 20 beautiful photos that will remind you why Georgia is the best state:
This mysterious beach is truly a Georgia gem! Driftwood Beach is located on Jekyll Island and is a favorite among photographers! It looks like a graveyard for trees, and the pieces of driftwood are quite striking.
Glory beach is another beach located on Jekyll Island and is a favorite vacation spot for travelers! There are a couple of beachfront resorts down there that are sure to provide the most amazing views of the beach.
This is one of the best places to find some of the finest seafood in all of Georgia. On the Wharf, you will find the refined Latitude 31º and the "Rah" Bar where they serve delicious Low Country Boils and wild shrimp.
This little shrimp boat is part of a bigger industry that is very important to Georgia--the shrimping industry. An average of 5 million pounds of shrimp is harvested in Georgia each year, attributing more than $20 million in revenue to these fantastic shrimping boats!
Welcome to the Fort King George Historic Site, the oldest English fort remaining on the Georgia coast. It was built by South Carolina colonists in 1721.
The Butler Island Plantation used to be a rice plantation in the 19th century. Pictured here is an amazing view of the 75 foot brick chimney that sits in front of the plantation and is a statue of interest to people who pass by.
The St. Simons Island is like a small tropical country that belongs to Georgia. This gorgeous villa just shows a piece of their tropical and southern lifestyle.
Another Italian style villa--this time located on Jekyll Island, shows the tropical beauty of Georgia. This unique photo makes this venue look like it belongs to Georgia royalty.
Amicalola State Park is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the whole state. This is just one of many magical springs to discover in Amicalola Park.
The hauntingly beautiful ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company reside in Sweetwater Creek State Park. This textile mill was burned during the Civil War.
Another beautiful shot of falls in Amicalola State Park. These falls are located on the lower cascade of the falls at the end of the trail.
