Georgia is full of educated folks. Just look at how many colleges and high-ranking high schools we have in our state! The average high school graduation rate in America is 80% and Georgia’s high school graduation rate is 86.3%. That’s not bad if you ask me. If you want to know which cities in Georgia have the most smarty-pants, here are the 10 smartest cities to live in:
Milton is a suburb north of Atlanta and has the most impressive high school and college graduation rates combined. Nearly 100% of high school students graduate at 98.1%, and 66.4% of their residents have Bachelors degrees.
Johns Creek is right next door to Alpharetta in distance and education; 96.2% of the people here obtain high school degrees and 62% obtain a bachelors degree.
Decatur is a city east of Atlanta with impressive graduation numbers, with 95.8% of residents graduating from high school and 71.3% graduating from college.
Peachtree City is a great place to live and their well educated residents can vouch for this! About 95.6% of residents have a high school diploma and 52.6% of people have a college degree.
Dunwoody is a bustling business hub in North Atlanta with very educated residents. Approximately 93.8% of residents have a high school diploma and 66.3% of residents have a college degree.
Sandy Springs is right around the corner from Dunwoody with really educated residents as well. About 93.7% of residents have a high school diploma and 57.8% of residents have a college degree.
8. Roswell
Roswell is located near Alpharetta and Johns Creek. Their residents have a 92.2% high school graduation rate and a 55.4% college graduation rate.
Brookhaven is a relatively new city in the northeastern portion of metro Atlanta. Their high school completion rate is 87.7% and their college degree attainment is at 57.5% of their population.
Coming in last but not least is Braselton. Braselton is a beautiful place with highly educated folks. They have a 91.5% high school graduation rate, and 44.2% of their residents have a college degree.
These statistics are based off of the percentage of residents obtaining a high school degree or a bachelor’s degree. All of these numbers came from the United States Census Bureau and you can input your city to see education facts as well as business, traffic, ethnic make-up and other facts about where you live.
Not surprisingly, most of these cities are also some of the richest cities in the state and a few are also on my “best cities in Georgia to find a job” list as well. What do you think of these cities? Are there any that are missing off the list? Tell me in the comments below.
