Spring Is Coming With The Sound Of Spring Peepers In Georgia

The spring peeper is a tiny chorus frog that serenades the wetlands of Georgia sometimes from as early as winter.

This tiny tan frog, usually only about an inch long, is one of the most abundant amphibians in the state, with easy markings to identify out in the wild.

On the small frog, you’ll likely see a dark brown X on its back, which will let you know that this guy can sing.

While some peepers can start singing as early as December in certain parts of Georgia, others may continue throughout the month of April—it really depends on the temperatures outside.

For many Georgians, the sound of the spring peepers is a welcomed sound of normalcy in the state, which might be just what we need when it feels as though winter will never end.
